The fashion world is buzzing as the theme for the 2026 Met Gala has been officially revealed. Vogue announced on Monday, Feb. 23, that the upcoming dress code for the highly anticipated event is “Fashion Is Art.” This theme, which promises to offer significant room for creative interpretation, aligns with the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute spring exhibition, titled “Costume Art.”

The exhibition is set to explore the “centrality of the dressed body,” according to an Instagram post from Vogue. The show will feature an expansive collection of more than 400 objects, ranging from historical garments from the Costume Institute’s archives to fine art paintings and other creative works. Attendees are expected to draw deep inspiration from these pieces, pushing the boundaries of the broad dress code.

While the full guest list remains under wraps, the event has already confirmed a star-studded lineup of hosts. Beyoncé is set to make a triumphant return to the gala as a co-chair, marking her first appearance at the event in a decade. She will be joined by fellow co-chairs Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour, with Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos serving as honorary co-chairs.

The Gala Host Committee is equally impressive, featuring a mix of music and pop culture icons including Ariana Grande (as a recurring favorite), Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, LISA, Sam Smith, and Teyana Taylor. Fans are also hopeful for appearances from red carpet staples like Bad Bunny, whose tour schedule aligns with the event, and Rihanna, who famously turned heads at last year’s gala.

The 2026 Met Gala is scheduled to take place on May 4 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
