If you have been missing the high-octane thrills of the classic Aerosmith-themed Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, prepare for a major shift in rhythm. Beginning May 26, the attraction will officially reopen with a brand-new identity: Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets. Walt Disney World has confirmed that the reimagined ride will blend high-speed intensity with the signature culture and zany humor that fans have come to expect from Jim Henson’s beloved creations.

A New Soundtrack and Storyline

The updated experience centers on the Electric Mayhem band, who are busy rehearsing for their biggest concert yet. As guests wait in line, they will be treated to the band’s iconic hit, “Can You Picture That?,” setting the stage for the chaos and comedy that follows. Much like the original iteration, music remains the heartbeat of the ride. The new soundtrack features an electrifying array of covers, including the Electric Mayhem’s take on Blur’s “Song 2,” a collaboration with Kelly Clarkson on Katrina and the Waves’ “Walking on Sunshine,” and a high-energy version of Steppenwolf’s “Born to Be Wild” featuring Camilla the Chicken.

The musical depth continues with Def Leppard revisiting their 1983 Pyromania classic “Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop),” while Jennifer Hudson and Questlove lend their powerhouse vocals to the Ohio Players’ “Love Rollercoaster.”

Star-Studded Cameos

Beyond the music, the queue experience has been overhauled to include a series of Celebrity Casting appearances. Visitors can expect to see cameos from a diverse group of actors and musicians, including Travis Barker, John Stamos, Neil Patrick Harris, Awkwafina, Danny Trejo, Darren Criss, Yvette Nicole Brown, Wayne Brady, and “Weird Al” Yankovic.

The attraction’s narrative is rooted in the history of the Muppet Theatre. According to the backstory, legendary tycoon J.P. Grosse has purchased G-Force Records and tasked his nephew, Scooter, with managing the business. This change in leadership is reflected in the ride’s exterior, where the famous supersized guitar has received a psychedelic makeover, and the piano motif below now features a single gold key—a nod to Dr. Teeth’s signature 14K gold tooth.

As guests move through the studio, they will witness the Electric Mayhem band recording new tracks, with a frantic Scooter urging them to finish up so that patrons can board their limos and blast off toward the concert. For those looking to get a glimpse of the action, the band is already performing a post-ride show, and fans can find previews of the new soundtrack and celebrity appearances across social media platforms.
