We may never learn the full story behind the tabloid-fodder headlines that have surrounded the Beckham family throughout 2026, but Spice Girls alum and fashion icon Victoria Beckham wants the world to understand that no matter what has been reported, her love for her family remains eternal.

In one of her first public comments since an intense public feud erupted between her and husband David Beckham and their eldest son, Brooklyn Beckham, in January of this year, the 51-year-old mother of four spoke to Wall Street Journal Magazine about the evolution of parenting and the nature of unconditional love. While she did not explicitly name her son in her responses, her reflections offered a window into the challenges of navigating family life under the constant glare of the media.

Navigating Parenthood with Adult Children

“Being a parent of young adult children and adult children, gosh, I mean, it’s very different from having little children,” Victoria shared. “I think that we’re trying to do the best we can.”

The public discourse surrounding the family reached a fever pitch earlier this year when Brooklyn, 27, and his wife, Nicola Peltz-Beckham, were notably absent from Victoria’s fashion show during Paris Fashion Week in March. This absence followed a series of candid and explosive social media posts from Brooklyn in January, in which he expressed frustration over the family’s public image and alleged that his parents had attempted to control narratives regarding his marriage and personal life.

“For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family. The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into,” Brooklyn wrote in a series of Instagram stories.

Protecting the Family Bond

When asked about the specific allegations raised by her son—including claims regarding wedding preparations and personal boundaries—Victoria maintained a measured approach. She emphasized that her primary focus has always been the well-being of her children.

“I think that we’ve always — we love our children so much,” she stated. “We’ve always tried to be the best parents that we can be. And you know, we’ve been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we’ve ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children. And you know, that’s all I really want to say about it.”

Despite the celebrity news cycle focusing heavily on the family’s internal struggles, Victoria noted that her professional life remains robust. She attributed the success of her fashion and beauty ventures to the quality of her products rather than the personal drama, though she acknowledged the irony that the public interest in her family life coincided with a career milestone: her 2001 solo single, “Not Such an Innocent Girl,” reaching No. 1 on several U.K. charts.

A Unified Front

David Beckham has similarly kept his public comments brief. In a January appearance on CNBC’s Squawk Box, the former soccer star addressed the power of social media and the necessity of allowing children to grow through their own experiences. “They make mistakes, but children are allowed to make mistakes. That is how they learn,” he noted. “You sometimes have to let them make those mistakes as well.”

As the family continues to navigate these public and private transitions, Victoria’s focus remains on the enduring nature of her role as a mother, prioritizing the long-term health of her relationships over the fleeting nature of tabloid speculation.
