Matt Helders, the drummer for Arctic Monkeys, hasn’t ruled out new material from the iconic band, insisting that they will “always” make new music.

Arctic Monkeys returned to the music scene with a bang on January 22nd to launch War Child Records’ upcoming charity compilation album, Help (2). ‘Opening Night’ marks their first release as a band in almost four years, since 2022’s The Car.

Helders, speaking newly with BBC Radio 1, has addressed what the future of the band might look like, as fans hope the single points towards a new album down the line.

Helders shared, “I think we went into this knowing it was a one-off. But then, having done it, we probably went away feeling like we just had a lot of fun making this record.”

He went on to clarify, “There are no conversations about it, but it’s definitely something we love to do and we’ll always do.”

Previously speaking with Zane Lowe, the drummer admitted that the group knew to anticipate discussion around their future, which is one of the many reasons that they teamed up with the charity for the release.

The drummer explained, “If people are talking about, then they’re talking about War Child, and that’s the point in this. I think everyone involved probably feels that a little bit.”

He also said of the crucial work that War Child does across the world: “For us, it’s like you said, it’s like nobody can deny this is a call, Everyone agrees that this is a good cause. No one’s on the fence about whether we should help the kids or not. I think it was like a no-brainer for us, definitely.”

The full album is set to arrive on March 6th, 2026, and also features Damon Albarn, Fontaines DC, Big Thief, Oliva Rodrigo, Wet Leg, The Last Dinner Party, Cameron Winter, Pulp, Depeche Mode, Ezra Collective, English Teacher, Anna Calvi, King Krule, and many more.
