Grammy Award-winning group Rüfüs Du Sol is seeking information on an incident that took place at a recent Los Angeles show, where a male fan attacked a female in the crowd.
They were made aware of the incident via a statement released on Instagram from the victim, who attended the show at the Rose Bowl. The woman, named Shelby, revealed that she accidentally spilt her drink on the man, who then “punched me in the face, knocking me out and causing significant bleeding, while he continued attacking our group.”
A video shared by Festive Owl depicts the incident, which shows the woman being knocked to the ground. She sustains multiple punches from the attacker.
Accompanying the video, Festive Owl wrote, “This isn’t my usual kind of content, but this behavior is abhorrent anywhere — much less at a show. A longtime follower was brutally attacked over an accidentally spilled drink this weekend during Rüfüs Du Sol at the Rose Bowl and needs help identifying this person.”
Shelby also added about the incident, “I tried to calm the situation and apologized again — and the next thing I remember I woke up in a medical tent an hour later and missed the entire show.”
Though they have filed a police report, the attacker fled into the crowd and has yet to be found.
The musicians took to their Instagram story to react to the footage, writing, “Delivering moments to our fans to gather and celebrate safely is what we live for. We have been heart broken to hear of the act of violence that took place during the opening act on Saturday.”
They continued, “This type of behavior is completely unacceptable anywhere, and the fact that this happened at one of our shows was devastating to learn about. Local law enforcement are actively investigating the situation.”
They urged anybody with information to contact the Pasadena Police Department.
