Nicole Kidman is beginning the press circuit for her upcoming Prime Video drama Scarpetta, and naturally, the conversation has turned toward her high-profile split last fall from her husband of 19 years, country singer Keith Urban.

Private by nature and seasoned by more than four decades in the entertainment industry, Nicole Kidman navigated the inquiries with her characteristic poise. When asked by Variety how she is faring after a challenging year, she kept her focus squarely on the future and her loved ones.

“I am good, because I’m always going to be moving toward what’s good,” she shared. “What I’m grateful for is my family and keeping them as is and moving forward. That’s that. Everything else I don’t discuss out of respect. I’m staying in a place of, ‘We are a family,’ and that’s what we’ll continue to be. My beautiful girls, my darlings, who are suddenly women.”

Urban and Kidman finalized their divorce on Jan. 6 after 19 years of marriage. According to legal documents, the dissolution was granted by the Fourth Circuit Court of Davidson, Tenn., where the couple previously shared a home. The terms stipulated that neither party would receive spousal support or alimony, with both sides responsible for their own legal expenses.

The couple, both 58, announced their separation last September, with Kidman filing for divorce later that month. The established parenting plan grants primary custody to Kidman for 306 days a year, with Urban scheduled to spend every other weekend with their children. The pair began dating in 2005 and married in Sydney, Australia, in June 2006. They share two daughters: Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14. Kidman is also mother to Isabella and Connor Cruise from her previous marriage to Tom Cruise.

Looking ahead, the actress confirmed she plans to remain in Nashville. “We have our life here. I’m part of the city and community for 20 years. It’s my home,” she noted, adding that she recently enjoyed a long walk with her neighbor and Big Little Lies co-star, Reese Witherspoon.
