Justin Baldoni case against Blake Lively dismissed

Justin Baldoni’s $400 million lawsuit against Blake Lively has been dismissed.

The judge formally ended the case, stating that Baldoni had failed to meet a deadline which would have allowed him to continue with his claim.

In June, the judge initially dismissed the filing that Baldoni had made against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and their publicist, alleging extortion, defamation, and invasion of privacy. However, Baldoni did have a window to file an amended complaint.

According to Judge Lewis Liman, that window has now passed, and Baldoni has allegedly failed to resubmit his complaint.

Lively’s attorneys previously issued a statement following Judge Liman’s ruling in June, which reads, “Today’s opinion is a total victory and a complete vindication for Blake Lively, along with those that Justin Baldoni and the Wayfarer Parties dragged into their retaliatory lawsuit, including Ryan Reynolds, Leslie Sloane and The New York Times.”

However, Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, responded to Lively’s team celebrating victory by stating, “Ms Lively and her team’s predictable declaration of victory is false, so let us be clear about the latest ruling.”

He continued, “While the court dismissed the defamation-related claims, the court has invited us to amend four out of the seven claims against Ms Lively, which will showcase additional evidence and refined allegations.”

Freedman is yet to comment since the window has passed.

Lively’s original suit, which is still pending, alleges that Baldoni sexually harassed her on the set of It Ends with Us, which he directed and co-starred in, as well as retaliation through a coordinated smear campaign. He denies the allegations.

The case will head to court in March 2026.
