After delaying the Ozzy Osbourne documentary ‘Coming Home’, the BBC has announced that it is officially rescheduled to air in October.
Originally set to air on August 18th, the show was pulled from the programme only hours before the official release time with no explanation. A day later, the corporation released an official statement explaining the last-minute decision.
They said, “Our sympathies are with the Osbourne family at this difficult time. We are respecting the family’s wishes to wait a bit longer before airing this very special film. The new transmission date will be confirmed shortly.”
The original release date was only three weeks after his death, on July 22nd. The singer passed away from a heart attack at his home, as explained in a statement from his family. Therefore, the release of the documentary was moved to allow the family time to consider his legacy and to honour their grief.
Now, the BBC have announced that the documentary will air on October 2nd. It will be available via BBC One or BBC iPlayer.
The original synopsis for the film shared what can be expected in the hour-long special: “It captures the extraordinary roller-coaster of their lives as Sharon and Ozzy attempt to complete their long-held dream of moving back to the UK, Ozzy heroically battles to get fit enough to perform, and the family deal with the dramatic consequences of his ill-health.”
It was filmed across three years and charts Ozzy’s determination to perform to the best of his abilities at Back to the Beginning, the farewell Black Sabbath show held in Birmingham, only 17 days before his death.
Another Ozzy picture is also set for an October release. Ozzy: No Escape From Now is set to be released on October 7th in the United States. The film has been directed by Tania Alexander, and Paramount said in a statement that the documentary was made “in collaboration with the Osbourne family”.
