Guitarist Tom Morello has revealed that Ozzy Osbourne was desperate to leave the afterparty for his Back To The Beginning farewell show that took place just 17 days before his death.

The Black Sabbath frontman passed away on July 22nd, at the age of 76. He was suffering from Parkinson’s disease, and it was later revealed that Osbourne suffered a fatal heart attack. The news was announced by his family via social media.

Rage Against The Machine guitarist Morello served as the musical director for the final Black Sabbath concert, which has since become a monumental marker of Ozzy Osbourne’s life.

Speaking to Rocklahoma Live, Morello looked back on that day wistfully. He especially addressed the concert’s afterparty. The story begins with Morello playing pinball with his son, which was cut short when Jack Osbourne tapped him on the shoulder.

Morello reminisced, “This is the last time I saw Ozzy. The day is done, it’s been great, and people have been working on the show for a very long time and we’re all hugging and crying.”

Addressing the afterparty, he shared, “We go to the afterparty, and finally, it’s mellow. I’m playing pinball with my son and somebody taps me on the shoulder. I’m in the middle of a multi-ball and I’m like, ‘Get off me.’ And it’s Jack Osbourne because his dad wants to say hi.”

After quickly finishing the game with his son, Morello approached the man of the hour. Morello shared, “So I finish my game and it’s like, ‘Ozzy would like to say something.’ I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh.’ First of all, Ozzy comes to the afterparty, which is crazy, right?”

Despite his display of affection, Osbourne wasn’t moved in the slightest. He continued, “And so I got to, one last time, kiss his head, tell him I love him, thank him for a lifetime of music and his reply was, ‘Could you find Sharon? I want to get the f**k out of here.’”

Morello deemed this the “perfect coda to the day”, laughing about Ozzy’s abrupt nature.
