Lionsgate has finally unveiled the first trailer for Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, the third instalment in the popular magician-heist franchise fronted by Jesse Eisenberg.

The trailer was not released quietly—in fact, quite the opposite was true. The movie franchise live-streamed a mysterious billboard in Times Square on April 29th, which displayed a timer and a mobile phone number. “TEXT FOR MAGIC,” the sign read. Beneath, a waterfall of cash fell on screen.

Reportedly, those who texted the number before the countdown finished found exactly $119.16 in their Venmo accounts, provided they had one. The reference on the transfer was the word “Voila” with a magic wand emoji. The team behind the stunt has not explained the apparent randomness of the number.

The stunt was posted on the popular X account Pop Crave, which led to many fans attempting to text the number after the timer had run out and the billboard had disappeared. They did not receive any funds. It is unknown how much the marketing team spent on the effort.

The film is set for a 14th November premiere, and will see fresh faces join the franchise. The returning cast includes Eisenberg as J. Daniel ‘Danny’ Atlas, Woody Harrelson as Merritt McKinney, Dave Franco as Jack Wilder, Isla Fisher as Henley Reeves, Mark Ruffalo as Dylan Rhodes, and Morgan Freeman as Thaddeus Bradley.

Newcomers include Saltburn actor Rosamund Pike, as well as Ariana Greenblatt, Dominic Sessa, and Justice Smith.

These stellar actors will join the original crew as aspiring, young magicians. The original Horsemen will mentor a new team of young magicians to execute a grand heist involving the theft of a valuable “heart diamond” from a corrupt family.

Director Ruben Fleischer, known for his work on Zombieland and Uncharted, helms this third chapter. Ed Solomon, Boaz Yakin, and Seth Grahame-Smith wrote the screenplay. A fourth instalment is already underway.
