FireAid has announced the recipients for its first round of grants following last month’s benefit concert in aid of the devastation caused by the Los Angeles wildfires.

The grants, which total an estimated $100 million, will roll out the first phase of $50 million, prioritising “community-based organisations that are on the front lines of wildfire relief.”

The organisation also announced that those set to receive funds the combined amount will receive $100,000 or more depending on their application, for immediate relief. Phase two will then focus more on rebuilding efforts.

The recipients are split into several groups, including aid to children and families, school funding, vulnerable and foster youth, food access, health and housing, small businesses, and more. Los Angeles’ music community will also receive support for the loss of homes, equipment, and studios.

Organised by Live Nation, AEG Presents, and Irving Azoff’s family, FireAid spanned two shows at Los Angeles’ Intuit Dome and Kia Forum. It drew over 50 million viewers on 28 streaming platforms, and many featured artists used the platform to discuss their connection to the cause.

Stevie Nicks dedicated a heartfelt rendition of ‘Landslide’ to the firefighters who saved her home, while Graham Nash reiterated the need for musical unity in times of struggle: “Whenever Los Angeles gets into trouble, the musicians are right there.”

Eagles also donated $2.5 million, though they did not perform at the event due to conflicts with their current residency at the MSG Sphere in Las Vegas. Other performers included Nirvana, Pink, Lady Gaga, and a special collaboration with Green Day and Billie Eilish.

After the event, Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong reflected on the opportunity to Billboard, saying, “I saw her play a couple of times and she was fantastic, and you just knew something special was gonna happen with her. But the fact that we got to play together… she’s a pretty awesome young lady, and it was an honour to be able to share the stage with her.”
