When Will ‘Heated Rivalry’ Season 2 Be Released? Updates and Filming News

The ice finally thawed out at the end of Heated Rivalry‘s debut season. As readers of Rachel Reid’s novels already know, Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov finally confessed their love and committed to a relationship in the season finale. This pivotal moment sets the stage for the adaptation of The Long Game, which explores the next chapter of their lives as an exclusive couple. With the series becoming one of the biggest television hits of 2025, fans are eager to know when they can expect the return of the show.
When Does Heated Rivalry Season 2 Come Out?
Season 2 of Heated Rivalry is officially moving forward with a target premiere window of April 2027. Creator Jacob Tierney has confirmed that the writing process is currently underway, with production expected to begin in August 2026. Filming is slated to take place over the summer to accommodate a spring launch. “There will be more Heated Rivalry on your TVs… as soon as humanly possible,” Tierney noted during an interview on CBS.
While the first season premiered in November 2025, Tierney clarified that the second season will not follow the same release schedule. “It can’t be the same time next year, because this time last year I’d written five of these, and this time this year I’ve written zero of them,” he explained to Variety. “It’s going to be a little bit later, but it’s still going to be soon. We understand that everybody’s goal is to not do two years between seasons.”
Tierney emphasized his commitment to quality, stating, “I don’t want to put out a rushed, subpar second season just because the show is very popular. But we’re very aware that our creative partners are enthusiastic and don’t want to wait too long.”

Looking ahead, the upcoming season is set to take a noticeably different tone. Speaking at BookCon, Tierney revealed that the story will move into “much more serious territory” for the central couple. While the romance remains, the narrative focus will shift away from the high-intensity, early-stage dynamics of their relationship toward something more mature.

Returning Cast and Future Storylines
Series leads Hudson Williams, who portrays Shane Hollander, and Connor Storrie, who plays Ilya Rozanov, are confirmed to return for season 2. The actors are reportedly signed on for three seasons of the entertainment hit. Supporting cast members, including Christina Chang and Dylan Walsh, are also expected to reprise their roles.
Christina Chang, who plays Shane’s mother, Yuna, expressed her excitement for the upcoming production. “Just more support for her new son, her ‘adopted son,’” she said, referring to Ilya. “I’m just looking forward to the reunion with all the other castmates on set, and getting to tell the story even more.”
Additionally, actors François Arnaud and Robbie G.K. will return as Scott Hunter and Kip Grady. While their characters are central to the Game Changers book series, the show will continue to maintain its primary focus on the relationship between Ilya and Shane.
