South London noise makers Warmduscher have announced details of their fifth album, Too Cold To Hold. Furthermore, they have previewed the release with the new single, ‘Fashion Week’.
The upcoming album is scheduled to be shared with the world on November 15th through Pete Doherty’s record label, Strap Originals, which is a new home for Warmduscher who were previously signed to Bella Union.
Too Cold To Hold marks Warmduscher’s first full length release since At the Hotspot in 2022, but the band have remained busy throughout that time. They later unleashed a remixed version of their last album, featuring contributions from Yard Act and Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard, as well as the stand-alone single ‘Love Strong’.
While Warmduscher have successfully kept fans nourished with material and touring over the last two years, news of another album is extremely welcome. Lead single, ‘Fashion Week’, is a track that will further bolster their anarchic live shows and simultaneously acts as a celebration of those who dedicate their lives to the fashion world.
In a statement, frontman Clams Baker Jr said of ‘Fashion Week’: “Those that will do anything to become that thing. That creation. And live it. It’s real artistry when you don’t have the means and you’re doing it. You’re hustling to get on the guest list, you get in, you’re done up by means that you can’t really afford, whatever you do… It’s a celebration of people who will do whatever to look good and feel good and step above wherever they are in their own minds.”
The track is set to be unveiled during an intimate show at The Lexington in London on July 10th, along with other new material from Too Cold To Hold. Speaking with Far Out in 2022, Baker Jr explained why the live environment is Warmduscher’s element, stating, “It’s really been live where it all makes sense. That’s where we’ve been hustling and grafting. We’ve just been playing together and getting to know people through the scenes and being comfortable. It is just like one big dysfunctional family.”
Additionally, Warmduscher have unveiled details of an extensive European tour for later this year, culminating with a huge show at The Troxy in London on November 29th. Other dates include Manchester’s O2 Ritz, Rock City in Nottingham, and the Paradiso in Amsterdam.
Notably, Too Cold To Hold also features an array of special guests, who could potentially appear at the London show on July 10th. Confidence Man’s Janet Planet lends herself to ‘Pure At Heart’, and Lianne La Havas contributes to Body Shock. Meanwhile, Trainspotting novelist Irvine Welsh delivers an introduction at the start of the album.
