Former Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello reunited with Bruce Springsteen on stage in California, marking the duo’s first performance together in eight years.

During a show at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum on April 7th, Springsteen enlisted Morello to play two songs with him. The pairing tore through renditions of ‘The Ghost Of Tom Joad’ from his 1995 album of the same name and ‘American Skin (41 Shots)’, first released as a live recording in 2001. Neither song had been played on the Springsteen and the E Street Band’s current tour before this date.

In between his work with Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave, Morello played on several Springsteen records, including 2012’s Wrecking Ball and 2014’s High Hopes. He also played a number of shows with Springsteen during this time, and the pair last appeared together on stage in 2016.

Springsteen also brought out his wife and E Street Band backing vocalist Patti Scialfa at the Los Angeles show. Scialfa joined him for two slightly older tracks, 1987’s ‘Tougher Than the Rest’ and 1977’s ‘Fire’.

The North American leg of Springsteen’s current tour comes to a brief halt in Columbus, Ohio on April 21st. ‘The Boss’ will then take the E Street Band across Europe, with a series of shows planned across the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain and more, before returning to his homeland in August.

Springsteen will be on the road for most of the year, with the ongoing tour set to continue rolling until November.

In other Springsteen news, 20th Century Studios recently acquired a biopic about ‘The Boss’ which will focus on the making of his 1982 record, Nebraska. Springsteen himself has described Nebraska as the album that represents him best. The film will be adapted from Warren Zanes’ book, The Making of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska, with Scott Cooper in place to write and direct.

Jeremy Allen White is currently the top choice to take on the role of Springsteen. The actor has found huge success starring as Carmy in Hulu’s beloved series The Bear, taking home an Emmy for his performance last year.

Since then, White has already ventured into the world of biopics with The Iron Claw. Starring alongside Zac Efron and Lily James, he took on the role of real-life wrestler Kerry Von Erich, so he already seems set to take on Springsteen.
