Australian psychedelic rockers Psychedelic Porn Crumpets have been forced to cancel dates on their European tour after lead singer Jack McEwan was bitten in the face by a dog.

The tour, which included sold-out shows at London’s Koko, as well as Leeds’ Project House and SWX in Bristol among others, has been put on hold while McEwan undergoes surgery for the injuries he suffered.

In a post on social media, the singer revealed, “They’ve got me hooked up on a drip here. I’ve basically got to get my chin scraped out and get all the infection out from a dog bite.”

McEwan continued, “I feel awful that we have to cancel the shows heading into Europe but we’re planning on coming back and we’re going to try and reschedule everything as soon as we can.”

Initially, only the early dates of the tour were slated to be cancelled, but as the true extent of his injuries revealed themselves, the band were forced to cancel further dates in Europe. As the singer explained, “I’ve been trying everything I can to basically sing but they’re going to have to put me to sleep and it’s going to be a couple of weeks until I can talk properly.”

New dates for the extensive tour have yet to be announced, though the band affirmed that they were working as quickly as possible to reschedule their European shows.

The Australian band had successfully completed the first three dates of the UK tour, playing shows in Birmingham, Glasgow and Manchester before the dog bite put a halt to proceedings.

The tour was due to celebrate the release of The Porn Crumpet’s recent album Fronzoli, released in 2023 via What Reality? Records.
