Social media star Amelia Dimoldenberg has been announced as the official Oscars Ambassador for the upcoming Academy Awards ceremony.
Dimoldenberg rose to prominence with her YouTube series ‘Chicken Shop Date’, in which she interviews high-profile celebrities. Since starting the show in 2014, she has amassed over two million subscribers on the aforementioned video sharing platform and three million TikTok followers.
Known for her awkward humour, often making interviewees feel purposefully and comically uncomfortable, Dimoldenberg has risen to become one of the internet’s best-loved figures.
The presenter will now be gracing the Oscars red carpet to interview guests. Following the announcement, she told A.frame, “I’m so excited. I really, really cannot believe it and can’t wait to get to Los Angeles and do some amazing interviews.”
“To be doing this for the Oscars itself is really, where do you go? It’s all downhill from here!,” she added. “What better place to interview Hollywood stars than the Oscars?”
Dimoldenberg continued, “For me, this is really a dream come true and a dream scenario, really. I’m also really excited to do something original and put my own stamp on the Oscars, to create some really amazing moments and deliver some amazing interviews — some groundbreaking pop culture journalism is incoming!”
The Oscars will take place on March 10th, 2024, at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.
The prestigious awards show is set to be hosted by comedian and talk-show host Jimmy Kimmel, who has previously been in charge of proceedings on three separate occasions. Kimmel presented the ceremony in 2017 and 2018 before returning to the position in 2023.
