Coldplay broke a Wembley record at their tenth show in a row at the iconic London venue. To celebrate, they revealed their future plans to the roaring fans.
The ‘Paradise’ band faced setbacks after a London tube strike meant they had to postpone several of their shows. “I know it caused a lot of inconvenience for a lot of you,” Martin told the crowd, as per BBC. “In return we’re going to play a show fifteen times better than any show we’ve ever played before. That’s the pledge.”
Martin came back swinging, bounding across the stage and orchestrating the light show the band’s live shows have come to be known for. The band even played a cover of Whitney Houston’s classic, ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’.
The show was the last of their Music Of The Spheres Tour, which kicked off in 2022 and has made four trips around the globe.
The frontman revealed gleefully on stage that the band would take a well-earned break, but the tour would resume “somewhere in southern Africa in about 18 months”.
Their tour is now the highest-attended tour in history, with more than 13 million tickets sold. Alone, the Wembley concerts were attended by more than 800,000 people.
The night also marked a new record for the band and for the arena. Coldplay have played the most shows at Wembley Stadium: 16 nights on the Music Of The Spheres Tour, across 2022 to 2025. In second place is Taylor Swift, who performed eight shows on the Eras Tour in 2024.
The Tour has also become one of the most profitable of all time, grossing over $1.38 billion. Final calculations are yet to be made. It was also the subject of a viral controversy, after a couple were caught cheating on their partners on a kiss-cam at their Boston show.
