Sheinelle Jones is a familiar face on the Today show, but beyond the cameras, she is a devoted mother navigating life after an unimaginable loss. In early 2025, she stepped away from her professional duties to focus on her family following the death of her husband, Uche Ojeh. As she returns to the spotlight and shares her journey through grief and healing, many have expressed interest in the children who remain at the center of her world.
“My kids lost their dad at 13 and 16,” Jones shared with PEOPLE, “but I try to tell them they got more in those years than some people get in a lifetime.”
How Many Kids Does Sheinelle Jones Have?
Sheinelle Jones shares three children with her late husband, Uche Ojeh, whom she met while attending Northwestern University. Together, they raised their three children: Kayin, Clara, and Uche Jr. Tragically, Uche passed away in May 2025 at the age of 45 following a battle with Glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.

Kayin is the eldest of the three siblings. On his 14th birthday, Sheinelle celebrated him on social media, writing, “14 years in 14 seconds. The years are flying by! I love you Kayin. Happy Birthday!” Kayin has shown a keen interest in broadcast journalism, mirroring his mother’s successful career. In 2021, he had the unique opportunity to interview author Jeff Kinney for NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt: Kids Edition, a moment Sheinelle proudly described as a “proud mama moment.”
Clara & Uche Jr.
The fraternal twins, Clara and Uche Jr., share a passion for pickleball. The family has enjoyed several high-profile moments, including attending the U.S. Open in 2023, where the twins had the chance to play a match with professional tennis players. Sheinelle documented the experience, noting her joy in cheering for her children from the stands.
