Barry Manilow has postponed the opening shows of his upcoming Las Vegas residency as he recovers from lung cancer surgery.

In December, Manilow revealed he had been diagnosed with lung cancer, which was caught early after a bout of bronchitis.

At the time, he pushed back his shows scheduled for January in order to allow him time to recover from surgery, and now, he has postponed his Las Vegas residency to have a longer rest period ahead of his upcoming tour.

Manilow began by writing, “I’m doing great and recovering very well after my surgery, I’ve been getting exercise and spending some time in the studio, which has been fantastic.”

He was due to return to the stage in February for a series of Valentine’s Day performances at Westgate Las Vegas between February 12th and February 21st, but these have now been postponed. No replacement dates have been confirmed.

The singer explained, “With my doctor’s guidance and recommendation, however, we have decided to postpone my residency dates at Westgate Las Vegas from February 12-21 so I can stay focused on healing and getting ready for the tour that’s kicking off at the end of February.”

The pop icon added, “I can stay focused on healing and getting ready for the tour that’s kicking off at the end of February. Having a few extra weeks to rest and prepare is what the doctor ordered!”

Tickets for his Las Vegas shows will be refunded from the point of purchase.

Although his Las Vegas residency will no longer be going ahead in February, Manilow remains scheduled to return to the stage on February 27th to kick off his arena tour in Tampa, Florida. He will also head to the UK for an arena tour in June.
