Robert Pattinson, Denzel Washington and Daisy Edgar-Jones are set to star in the heist film Here Comes the Flood, directed by Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Fernando Meirelles.

The plot follows a bank guard scheming with a master thief. It will follow the rise and fall of his relationship with a bank teller and reveal a series of twists that unveil the con game at the centre of everything.

Simon Kinberg of Mr and Mrs Smith penned the script for the film. According to Netflix’s official logline, Here Comes the Flood is an “unconventional heist movie about a bank guard, a teller, and a master thief in a deadly game of cons and double crosses.”

Meanwhile, Washington will star in his fifth movie collaboration with Spike Lee in Highest 2 Lowest, which follows him as a gangster figure on the streets of New York. This will be released in US cinemas on August 22nd, 2025, before being made available to stream on Apple TV+ from September 5th. He most recently starred in Gladiator II and the record-breaking Othello on Broadway with Jake Gyllenhaal.

Edgar-Jones most recently appeared in Daniel Minahan’s On Swift Horses opposite Jacob Elordi, Will Poulter, Diego Calva, and Sasha Calle. She was also cast as musician Carole King in the film adaptation of the Broadway musical, but this project was cancelled due to the script requiring more work.

Pattinson most recently appeared in Bong Joon Ho’s Mickey 17. Far Out said of the movie: “A combination of classic science fiction, black comedy, and ethical philosophy, the film is a vision of the future that is both funny and bleak and uses a chaotic, farcical tale of planetary exploration to explore, among other things, the nature of personhood.” He’s next set to appear in A24’s The Drama opposite Zendaya.

There is no current release date scheduled for Here Comes the Flood.
