Now back from a lengthy hiatus, Cameron Diaz is ready to revisit some of her old projects. In particular, the actor has said she’s open to making a sequel to The Mask.

In 1994, The Mask made Cameron Diaz a star. Alongside Jim Carrey, the film launched both of them to notoriety as one of his first notable performances, too. But for Diaz, that quirky superhero comedy was her debut, meaning that the first film she ever starred in saw her hitting the big time.

The film performed incredibly well. It grossed $351 million on an $18–23 million budget and received critical praise. It also immediately established Diaz as a leading lady which she then confirmed with films like There’s Something About Mary, Charlie’s Angels, The Holiday and many more titles.

However, in 2017, she confirmed her retirement from acting, having grown tired of the constant traveling. Still only 52 years old, Diaz’s decision to step away from the industry while being one of the highest paid and most sought after actor around was a shock one.

But now she’s back after having starred in Back in Action alongside Jamie Fox. Now returning to the film world, she’s spoken about her willingness to revisit some of her old projects, including The Mask.

“If Jim’s on board, I mean, I’ve been riding those coattails from day one,” she said. She also commented that she’d be open to a new Charlie’s Angels film but only if her co-stars Lucy Liu and Drew Barrymore were also in it as she said, “It would be amazing. It would be really amazing.”

Already signed on to voice her character in the new Shrek film, Diaz recently quipped that her own rule for her comeback is that she wont’t name any more romantic comedies, stating, “No more rom-coms, only mom-coms.”
