The Californian alt-rock band Pavement has announced a bumper reissue box set to celebrate its critically praised recording run through the 1990s.

Active in the studio between 1989 and 1999, Pavement released five albums that blurred the line between oblique alt-rock and mainstream accessibility. The early releases Slanted And Enchanted, Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain and Wowee Zowee are regarded as the band’s masterpieces among critics and fans, while Brighten The Corners and Terror Twilight consisted generally of more radio-friendly material.

Cautionary Tales: Jukebox Classiques, the new limited-edition vinyl box set, targets the old-school fan, showcasing the band’s complete catalogue of 7″ singles. The exclusive collection comprises 18 records in total, featuring music initially released via esteemed labels such as Treble Kicker, Drag City, Matador, Big Cat, and Domino.

Each record is meticulously reproduced with the original artwork, accompanied by a 24-page threaded saddle-sewn booklet and a comprehensive discographic history. Please note that Cautionary Tales is available exclusively via mail order and is strictly limited to pre-orders only. The box set is available to pre-order now, with a strict deadline of April 22nd. See purchase options here.

Those who pre-order the set can expect delivery on July 12th. While you wait, however, you can enjoy the remastered collection across all major streaming platforms. Comprising 56 songs with a two-hour 46-minute runtime, the box set traces the band’s development and includes covers of songs by The Fall, Echo and the Bunnymen and more.
