WGA Awards 2024: The complete list of winners
(Credits: Writers Guild)
Following a significant year, the Writers Guild of America Awards 2024 saw an array of cutting-edge writing achievements rewarded for their efforts in the entertainment industry.
It proved to be a night to remember for the teams behind The Holdovers, American Fiction, The Bear, and Succession, who all ended award seasons on a high. The 2024 WGA Awards ceremony was held at the Hollywood Palladium for the West Coast edition on April 14th and at the Edison Ballroom in New York for the East Coast’s event.
Notably, Jesse Armstrong’s hit HBO comedy-drama, Succession won two prizes at the New York event. This was the final major awards ceremony the show was eligible for after explosively concluding in May 2023.
The programme took home the episodic drama accolade for season four’s sixth instalment ‘Living+’, as well as one of the most gilded awards up for grabs, best drama series. This follows a widely triumphant awards season as the show bids farewell.
Other notable winners included American Fiction writer Cord Jefferson, who adapted it from the 2001 novel Erasure by Percival Everett. For his directorial feature debut, Jefferson was also bestowed with the Paul Sevlin Award. Elsewhere, the likes of Beef, The Last of Us and Poker Face were successful.
Furthermore, a big shock on the evening was the cult sketch show I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson securing a victory over comedic institution Saturday Night Live.
