British actor Tom Holland has revealed that he intends to retire from acting and remove himself from the public eye as soon as he has children.

In an expansive interview with Men’s Health, Holland discussed several topics, including the year-long break he took from acting after shooting the AppleTV+ show The Crowded Room, his sober journey, and Bero, his new line of non-alcoholic beers.

During the interview, the talk turned to Holland’s longstanding desire to lead a more normal life than the one he has as the star of one of Hollywood’s premier superhero franchises. He revealed that his cultural ubiquity as Spider-Man can sometimes lead to awkward and surreal moments, such as when he broke up a fight between two shoppers at a Whole Foods in Los Angeles.

He laughed at the recollection of dragging one of the men away from the other and realising, “I can see that he’s recognized me immediately, and you could see the wheels turning, like, ‘I’m really angry, but Spider-Man is telling me to calm down.’”

Holland was asked if he saw Bero as a venture that could help him exit the movie business, but he clarified that it is simply a passion project, and he is happy to keep acting for now. After all, he recently signed up to star in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, and will return as Peter Parker in a fourth Spider-Man movie and Avengers: Doomsday.

However, the 28-year-old star did note that he sees a future in which he’s no longer a famous actor, and it’s all tied in with when he decides to become a father. He claimed, “When I have kids, you will not see me in movies anymore.”

Instead, he wants to focus purely on being a dad and playing golf. Aside from those endeavours, he plans to “just disappear off the face of the earth.”
