The co-star of Tom Cruise in the new action movie from Alejandro González Iñárritu has called the experience the “craziest thing I’ve ever been a part of in my life”.
Very few details are known about the film at this time, which is still yet to receive an official title. In the project, Cruise leads an ensemble cast where he stars as the protagonist, fighting to be the saviour of the world before his own actions come back to haunt him.
Alongside this, Cruise’s co-star, Michael Stuhlbarg, has now provided a small glimpse into what the experience of shooting the movie was like, in a new interview with the SAG-AFTRA Foundation.
He said (via World of Reel): “This film is the craziest thing I’ve ever been a part of in my life. It’s fantastic. My God, I can’t wait to see how it is.”
Remaining coy with any form of concrete details on the movie, Stuhlbarg added: “I arrived in October and left in May — it was the longest shoot I’ve ever done. I can’t say much more than that.”
The premise of the project has been kept strictly under wraps over the past few months, but it did emerge in March that actor John Goodman injured his hip while on the set, and production had to temporarily pause to allow him to recover.
However, it is known that opposite Cruise, Goodman, and Stuhlbarg, the further cast will include Sandra Hüller, Jesse Plemons, Sophie Wilde, and Riz Ahmed.
For his own part, Cruise was recently recognised as the action hero of all of Hollywood, accepting an honorary Oscar at the Governors’ Awards, presented to him by Iñárritu.
During his speech, he emotionally reflected on the heights of his career, saying that “making films is not what I do, it is who I am.”
Cruise’s latest film from Iñárritu is slated for release on October 2nd, 2026.
