The Rolling Stones‘ pianist Chuck Leavell has hinted that they are planning a European tour.
It was previously reported that The Stones were due to hit the road in 2025 across the continent, including dates at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Instead, they stayed off the road for the year amid speculation they returned to the studio to create a follow-up to 2023’s Hackney Diamonds.
Now, Leavell told The Sun of the rock band’s touring plans: “They don’t want to hang up the rock ’n’ roll shoes yet. There’s no doubt in my mind.”
The pianist then shared where he believes The Stones will be visiting in 2026, “We’ve done a good bit in the US the last few years, so I think the likelihood would be somewhere else and my best guess would be probably Europe.”
The musician, who has played with the legendary rockers since 1982, also confirmed that The Rolling Stones have been busy working on new music, adding, “They’ve been recording. I’m sure there’s already some new music, and I’m sure it’s great.”
He finished by reiterating their intentions to hit the road again, stating, “I also am very sure that the band wants to perform.”
These comments align with comments made in a recent interview by Keith Richards’ son, Marlon Richards, who previously told Record Collector, “I think they’re planning a tour of Europe”.
Marlon, who spoke in May, also confirmed that The Stones were back in the studio in London, sharing, “They’re in town right now, recording.”
It was also reported in the summer they been working at Metropolis Studios in Chiswick, West London, which Marlon backed up by saying, “They’re in Chiswick or somewhere like that; I think they’re nearly done.”
Additionally, Andrew Watt, who produced Hackney Diamonds, also confirmed he’d reconvened with the band, telling Rolling Stone, “When the tongue is up in the air, you just go… I can say we did some recording together, but that’s all I can say.”
