Stevie Wonder has announced a UK tour this summer, culminating in a headline slot at BST Hyde Park in London.

The soul legend will take to the iconic summertime stage on July 12th, after having stopped in at the Lytham Festival, Manchester, Birmingham, and Cardiff the week before on his Love, Light and Song tour – the first time he has graced the UK stages in some six years after he last performed at Hyde Park in 2019.

The 75-year-old shows no signs of stopping yet, having first broken onto the airwaves in 1961. In that time, Wonder has asserted himself into the fabric of the music industry in no uncertain terms, from his iconic breakout single ‘Fingertips’ to his most recent song, ‘We Can Fix Our Nation’s Broken Heart’, released last August.

In more recent years, Wonder has been faced with a number of health issues – most notably undergoing a kidney transplant in September 2019, which he announced was going to happen at his last show at BST Hyde Park that summer.

Wonder’s tour will come at the height of a seismic summer of music in the UK. At the same time as Wonder will be in the country, iconic bands Black Sabbath and ELO will hold farewell concerts in Birmingham and BST Hyde Park, respectively.

However, this tour has been announced after the Glastonbury line-up for this year has already been revealed. Wonder was heavily rumoured to be headlining the festival but he will instead take on his own gigs, while The 1975, Olivia Rodrigo, and Neil Young will head to Worthy Farm.

Tickets for Wonder’s Love, Light and Song tour will go on sale on March 21st.
