Euphoria mastermind Sam Levinson has finally revealed key plot details from the long-awaited third season, including the official release date.

Season three of the teen drama is set to hit HBO in April 2026, officially marking more than four years since the season two finale was released.

Most of the A-listers, such as Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Eric Dane, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Demie, and Dominic Fike, will be returning. However, Austin Abrams and Algee Smith were not included in the newly released HBO cast list.

Levinson shared plenty of juicy details at an HBO Max presentation in London on December 3rd, where he confirmed that there will be a time jump from the second to the third season, a plot device that has been at the heart of the discourse surrounding the cult show.

Levinson shared, “Five years felt like a natural place because if they’d gone to college, they’d be out of college at that time.”

He added, “We basically pick up Rue [Zendaya] south of the border in Mexico, in debt to Laurie [Kelly], trying to come up with some very innovative ways to pay it off.”

Turning his attention to Sweeney and Elordi’s characters, he added, “And then Cassie [Sweeney] is living in the suburbs with Nate [Elordi], they’re engaged and she’s very addicted to social media and envious of what appears to be the big lives that all of her high school classmates are living at this point in time.”

The series seems geared towards their eventual marriage. Levinson confirmed, “I feel strongly this is our best season yet… I will say that Cassie and Nate do in fact get married. I’m confirming it. And I promise that it will be an unforgettable night.”

The show is famous for multiple, sprawling plotlines, many of which Levinson also lifted the lid on. He added, “Jules [Schafer] is in art school, very nervous about having a career as a painter and trying to avoid responsibility at all costs. Maddy [Demie] is working in Hollywood at a talent agency for a manager, she’s obviously got her own side hustles going.”

He then discussed a new character on the show, sharing, “And Lexi [Apatow] is an assistant to a showrunner played by Sharon Stone, who is just absolutely delightful and a true icon.”

The series will welcome a host of new names, including Trisha Paytas, Natasha Lyonne, Danielle Deadwyler, and Eli Roth.

However, some old faces will not be returning for what promises to be an explosive new season. Storm Reid revealed in November 2024 that her character, Rue’s sister Gia, would not be featured in the new season. Barbie Ferreira, who played Kat, left the series in August 2022 over creative differences.
