Wes Scantlin, the frontman of nu-metal act Puddle of Mudd, has been arrested on a count felony domestic violence following an altercation with his girlfriend.

According to reports from TMZ, police presence was requested at an apartment in Torrance, California at 3am on March 11th, where it was discovered that the woman had noticeable marks on her arms, suggesting signs of physical violence from Scantlin.

Police subsequently arrested the singer at the scene, where he was also found to have been in possession of a controlled substance.

Consequently, Scantlin has been charged with both felony domestic violence and possession of a controlled substance, and is still in custody in a Los Angeles County Jail with his bail amount set at $90,000.

The 52-year-old rock vocalist and guitarist has had an extended history of legal issues, having been arrested on domestic violence charges on two previous occasions in 2002 and 2013.

More recently, he was pepper sprayed by a SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) team in August 2024 after refusing to leave his vehicle during a traffic stop, and last month, he was forced to apologise for a poor performance at a charity event, which he claims was due to him being drugged by a former bandmate.

Scantlin’s relationships with his previous bandmates are not on good terms, with the band having cancelled a 2023 album release tour due to the shows having been booked without Scantlin’s knowledge or prior consent. Scantlin subsequently declared that all involved with the tour, including band members, had been fired from their roles as a result.
