The Los Angeles Police Department has detained a man after he crashed his car through the gates of the home of Jennifer Aniston in Bel Air.
Police authorities confirmed that the incident occurred on the afternoon of May 5th. They said Aniston was at home at the time of the crash but was not injured.
A Caucasian man in his 70s was arrested on suspicion of burglary when he crashed into the gates of the actor’s mansion at around 12:20pm local time, having been restrained by security on the property before police arrived.
According to TMZ, the suspect was held at gunpoint but then had to be checked over by medical professionals as he complained of experiencing pain.
Footage published by various American broadcasters showed that the front of the gate was significantly damaged, with its electric opening and closing capabilities broken as a result.
The suspect will be charged with felony vandalism due to the damage caused in the incident, with police currently carrying out an investigation into his criminal background and potential motives.
As things stand, there is no indication that the man was intentionally trying to target or harm the former Friends star.
Aniston’s private residence on the 900 block of Airole Way in Bel Air holds 8,500 square feet and sits on a 3.4-acre lot. The home was purchased by Aniston and her ex-husband Justin Theroux in the early 2010s for just under $21 million at the time, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The LAPD said further details regarding the incident would be made available in the coming days.
