After becoming one of the most exciting new artists in the UK, indie four-piece Picture Parlour have finally announced the release of their debut EP, Face In The Picture.

Picture Parlour only played their first-ever show at Brixton’s iconic venue, The Windmill, in late 2022. After wowing the crowd, the venue invited them back to play several more times, cutting their teeth as a band on the stage that also birthed groups like Black Midi, The Last Dinner Party, Fat Dog and more.

Their swift rise to a hot one-to-watch act proves that bands can still do it the old-fashioned way, gaining a reputation almost purely through word-of-mouth recommendations and live shows across the country’s independent venue and festival circuit.

The release of their debut single, ‘Norwegian Wood’, in July 2023 only solidified the hype. With Katherine Parlour’s swaggering, unique vocals, paired with Ella Risi’s anthemic guitar lines, they launched themselves as the new rock and roll act for the modern crowd. With their second track, ‘Judgement Day’, excitement only grew.

Despite all the excitement surrounding them, the group have opted to play the slow game. Rather than rushing a project out, they’ve taken the time to play more shows and focus on songwriting until they felt ready. Now, with the announcement of their debut EP, the moment has finally come.

Face In The Picture will be released incredibly soon, on June 14th. To celebrate the release, the band will be playing a special launch show in the Basement of Third Man Records, Jack White’s iconic vinyl store and venue in central London.

Ahead of that, the title track, ‘Face In The Picture’, lands on June 5th. Giving a first taste of the EP and a long-awaited third song from the band, the teaser promises more crooning vocals, huge choruses and a sound that feels custom-made for the bigger stages they’re sure to be graduating up to.

Picture Parlour sit amongst the ranks of an exciting crowd of new artists. As Far Out caught up with the band at Get Together Festival, they shared some of their own ones-to-watch in the form of Fontaines D.C., Hot Wax, and Chappell Roan. With personal music tastes that combine pure punk, theatrical pop and anthemic indie, the influences that might have floated into their EP promise great things to come.
