During her headline performance at Governors Ball on Saturday night, Olivia Rodrigo stunned her audience by bringing out surprise guest David Byrne for a rendition of Talking Heads’ ‘Burning Down the House’.

The New York festival, which also featured a Friday night headline performance from Tyler, the Creator and will see Hozier headline on Sunday night, had Rodrigo booked to close proceedings for the second day of the event.

However, heavy rain delayed the start of her set by approximately one hour, with event organisers taking the executive decision to either shift some other sets back or cancel them entirely.

While delays and cancellations left some fans frustrated, Rodrigo’s headline set delivered plenty of verve as she raced through a number of hits from her albums, Sour and Guts, before she brought out her special guest one song from the end of her main set.

Wearing co-ordinated outfits, Rodrigo and Byrne enthusiastically dealt out a high-energy rendition of the 1983 hit, which was also recently covered by Paramore for the covers album marking the 40th anniversary of Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense live album and concert film in 2024.

Talking Heads recently released a music video starring actor Saoirse Ronan for their song ‘Psycho Killer’ to mark 50 years since the band played their first ever show at the iconic CBGB venue in New York, although the band have quashed any speculation regarding a potential reunion.

Rodrigo is set to headline BST Hyde Park in London this summer on June 27th, which comes two days before her massive Glastonbury Festival headline appearance, which is also being headlined by Neil Young and The 1975.
