Morrissey has now missed two US shows after being hospitalised on the road.

The former frontman of The Smiths was set to play San Diego’s Civic Theatre on May 1st and Rancho Mirage, California, on May 3rd. However, his official website stated that the singer missed both shows after contracting “ a severe sinusitis attack.”

Morrissey was treated at Coronado Hospital in San Diego, and representatives have now confirmed that the tour will reconvene as planned in Tucson Centennial Hall, Arizona, on May 5th.

The website apologises for the inconvenience caused: “Morrissey, the band and crew, are very appreciative of those who convey understanding at difficult moments during tours.”

Morrissey has also been in the headlines recently after starting the initial stages of legal action against an online troll he alleges contributed to “decades-long” defamation and a “harmful global narrative”.

Morrissey has been heavily criticised over the years for his political views and associations, particularly in 2019 after wearing a For Britain badge during a live performance, along with several additional harmful comments about race.

He also openly criticised the #MeToo movement and delivered this controversial comment regarding Kevin Spacey’s accuser: “One wonders if the boy did not know what would happen … When you are in somebody’s bedroom, you have to be aware of where that can lead.”

Morrissey will soon make his way to the United Kingdom. He will begin his tour on May 31st in Dublin at the 3Arena before crossing the Irish Sea to start the UK leg of the dates at the O2 Academy in Glasgow on June 4th and June 5th. Morrissey will then perform at the Co-op Live in Manchester on June 7th.

His tour will continue and subsequently end in Europe, with dates spanning from June 12th in Madrid to August 3rd in Italy.
