Mia Goth is the latest star to sign on to Christopher Nolan’s next project, The Odyssey. The film will be the director’s much-anticipated follow-up to 2024’s Oppenheimer, which earned seven Oscars, including ‘Best Picture’ and ‘Best Director.’

So far, details about The Odyssey are under wraps, as is typical with a Nolan film, though the cast list has been steadily trickling in.

The story is based on Homer’s epic tale of the Greek warrior Odysseus, the King of Ithaca, as he embarks on a harrowing journey home from the Trojan War while his wife Penelope fends off suitors and his son Telemachus undergoes his own journey of discovery.

The cast is formidable. Matt Damon was the first name to be announced, while Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Elliott Page, Himesh Patel, and Samantha Morton (to name a few) have also been added to the list.

Goth rose to prominence primarily for horror movies, most notably for Ti West’s X trilogy, which she co-wrote. In the series, Goth played three women from different eras who are seized with a hunger for fame. In 2022’s X, she played both an adult film actress and an octogenarian on the farm where the woman and her crew are filming a new movie.

In December, Universal shared details behind Nolan’s project on X, writing, “Christopher Nolan’s next film The Odyssey is a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology.”

It has not been revealed which actors will play which roles, but, in usual Nolan fashion, we are likely to have a steady trickle of hints and cryptic trailers between now and the film’s July 2026 release.
