Leonardo DiCaprio offers Jennifer Lawrence vital advice about working with Martin Scorsese

Leonardo DiCaprio has offered important advice to Jennifer Lawrence before she starts work with director Martin Scorsese in the new year.
In early 2026, Scorsese will begin shooting his next feature film, What Happens At Night, which is set to star DiCaprio and Lawrence.
The movie will follow an American couple who travel to a snowy European city with plans to adopt a baby when a series of strange scenarios occur.
The forthcoming movie is based on Peter Cameron’s acclaimed novel of the same name, originally published in 2020.
The blurb for the book explains how they encounter characters “ranging from an ancient, flamboyant chanteuse to a debauched businessman to an enigmatic faith healer”, which also notes, “Nothing is as it seems in this baffling, frozen world, and the more the couple struggles to claim their baby, the less they seem to know about their marriage, themselves, and life itself.”
Now, during a conversation with Variety, DiCaprio, who has worked with Scorsese previously on six feature films, has given Lawrence an idea of what to expect from the cinematic legend.
In response to being asked, “Well, you and I are about to work with each other again. Is there anything I should absolutely know about Martin Scorsese before we start?,” DiCaprio replied, “It’s a great thing, and he’s going to give you a lot of film references.”
He then instructed Lawrence to make one pivotal purchase, sharing, “They usually come in the form of a DVD. And if you don’t have a DVD player, get one.” She then jokingly replied, “Oh my God. I’m going to kill myself.”
DiCaprio then elaborated on Scorsese’s working methods, “But he’ll have screenings sometimes for just one sequence in a movie. If there’s something that he wants you to capture from an old film or the pacing of something, you might have a screening of a whole film just for a specific scene that he wants to see We might see some Japanese ghost films for reference, just to get the tone of it. You’re going to have an amazing time.”
No further information has been revealed regarding the cast for What Happens At Night.
