Despite Oasis denying reports they are set to play Knebworth Park in 2026, the owner of Knebworth House has maintained the band will eventually perform at the venue again.

Since news of their comeback became official on August 28th, Knebworth House owner, Henry Lytton-Cobbold, has publicly been trying to persuade the Gallagher brothers to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their iconic 1996 gigs at Knebworth next year.

In a conversation with the BBC, Lytton-Cobbold described their Wembley Stadium concerts as a “reasonable warm-up venue for Knebworth” and claimed their return to Hertfordshire is “what the people want” before adding “they seem pretty good at doing what the people want”.

These comments sparked speculation that Oasis were contemplating taking Lytton-Cobbold up on his offer. Notably, The Sun claimed that “insiders” had told them Liam and Noel Gallagher were “both open to the idea” of playing at Knebworth in 2026 “but will wait until they’ve started their 19-date reunion tour next year before they decide.”

However, Oasis quickly stamped out these rumours before they caught further fire. On September 11th, the group wrote on X: “Contrary to reports in some UK tabloid media today, Oasis will not be playing Knebworth Park in the future. There are no plans for any further UK dates beyond the currently announced UK stadium tour.”

In response, Lytton-Cobbold hasn’t taken no from an answer, and again spoken to the BBC in Hertfordshire to express his desire to bring Oasis back to the fields, noting, “They have a history of doing what the people want, and what the people want is Knebworth 2026.”

Speaking from personal experience, he added: “Let’s see how it goes. Every person I’ve met would love to see a 30th anniversary at Knebworth.”

Lytton-Cobbold also claimed that 12 months is “a long time in Oasis years” and remains optimistic that it could be feasible if they “overcome that challenge”. He concluded: “If Oasis doesn’t come back in 2026, they’ll come back in 2036. It will happen one day, we’re not going anywhere.”

When they performed at Knebworth in 1996, 2.5 million people attempted to secure tickets for the event which equates to 4 per cent of the British population in 1996. Since then, the demand to see Oasis has grown further as 10 million fans attempted to buy tickets to their highly-anticipated reunion tour in 2025.

Their two shows at Knebworth have been archived in the history books, forming the concluding scene for the documentary, Supersonic, and it was also released as a concert film in 2021. When an Oasis reunion looked impossible, Liam Gallagher came back 26 years later to perform two headline shows in 2022 which further aligned the Manchester icons with Knebworth.

As Oasis made clear in their statement, the only shows they currently have in the calendar for the United Kingdom have already been announced. However, it’s expected they will also play shows overseas in 2025 which will be revealed in due course.
