Kanye West has gone back on his statements where he called himself a Nazi. The Chicago rapper went on a tirade on X earlier this month, which included many antisemitic comments. He described himself as “racist” and praised Adolf Hitler, the leader of the Nazi Party.
“I LOVE HITLER – NOW WHAT, BITCHES?,” he wrote. “I’M A NAZI. I SAY WHATEVER THE FUCK I WANT, P*SSIES.” He continued, “I’M NEVER APOLOGISING FOR MY JEWISH COMMENTS. I CAN SAY WHATEVER THE FUCK I WANNA SAY FOREVER. WHERE’S MY FUCKING APOLOGY FOR FREEZING MY ACCOUNTS? SUCK MY DICK. HOW’S THAT FOR AN APOLOGY?”
However, Ye has appeared to have a change of heart. Taking to X on February 19th, he backtracked on his hurtful words. “After further reflection, I’ve come to the realisation that I’m not a Nazi,” he said.
West previously apologised for other antisemitic remarks in 2023. “I sincerely apologise to the Jewish community,” he wrote in Hebrew. “It was not my intention to hurt or demean, and I deeply regret any pain I may have caused.
“I am committed to starting with myself and learning from this experience to ensure greater sensitivity and understanding in the future. Your forgiveness is important to me, and I am committed to making amends and promoting unity.”
West recently sold a swastika T-shirt on his Yeezy website for $20, but Shopify quickly took action and removed the site altogether. The Campaign Against Antisemitism condemned Kanye’s t-shirt and called on Elon Musk to ban him from X for hate speech.
“As if we needed further proof of Kanye’s antisemitism, he chose to put a single item for sale on his website – a T-shirt emblazoned with a swastika,” a post from the ADL read. “The swastika is the symbol adopted by Hitler as the primary emblem of the Nazis.”
It continued, “It galvanised his followers in the 20th century and continues to threaten and instil fear in those targeted by antisemitism and white supremacy. If that wasn’t enough, the t-shirt is labelled on Kanye’s website as ‘HH-01,’ which is code for ‘Heil Hitler.’”
