During a recent interview, Jenna Ortega discussed her ‘blink and you miss it’ part in the 2013 Iron Man 3. After recent roles in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and Scream, the actor was asked about the possibility of starring in a Marvel film, revealing that she had a small part alongside Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow.
“I did it once. It was one of the first jobs I ever did. They took all my lines out. I’m in ‘Iron Man 3’ for a quick second. I take up the frame, I have one leg, and I’m the vice president’s daughter.”
Paul Rudd, who was interviewed alongside Ortega, added that he would love for the Scream star to return to the MCU.
Rudd added that, “Marvel is very good at like, kind of laying those bread crumbs. And so it might very well be that you come back. That they are going to create something for you, cause they should be so lucky to have Jenna Ortega in their franchise.”
Regardless of Rudd’s optimism, Ortega was less convinced that she would return, saying, “They even took my name away. I count that, then I move on.” Iron Man 3 went on to gross over $1.2 billion at the global box office, which is nearly equivalent to the overall profit earned from the first two Iron Man films.
While there have been no announcements that might hint towards Ortega’s involvement in later Marvel films, the actor has recently been busy promoting her latest film, Death of a Unicorn.
The A24-produced film follows a father and daughter who accidentally hit and kill a unicorn while on the way to a weekend retreat, with his billionaire boss deciding to exploit the creature’s magical properties.
