Jan Schwieterman, actor best known for starring in ‘Good Burger’, dies at 52

The actor Jan Patrick (JP) Schwieterman, who was best known for starring in Good Burger, passed away at 52 from cancer.

His brother, Chad Schwieterman, confirmed his passing on social media. He confirmed that he passed away in Mercury Hospital on February 28th after he had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.

“It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of my brother, Jan (JP) Schwieterman,” wrote Chad in a post on March 1st. “He recently found out he had an aggressive form of stage 4 cancer and passed yesterday evening. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this difficult time.”

As a touching tribute, he added, “Rest in peace, brother. We love and miss you.”

Schwieterman was born in Bluffton in 1972, where he grew up. After High School, he decided to pursue his ambition of becoming an actor and moved to California. His first role was in the TV series McKenna. Schwieterman impressed in this role and subsequently went on to guest star in shows such as Forever, NightMan, Undressed, and ER.

One of his most noteworthy roles came in 1997 when he was cast as the villain Kurt Bozwell in Nickelodeon’s Good Burger. He acted alongside the comedians Kenen Thompson and Kel Mitchell. He also starred in other notable series such as Warlock III: The End of Innocence and American Intellectuals.

The actor took a seven-year hiatus at the beginning of the 2000s to pursue other artistic endeavours, such as painting, photography, and martial arts.

Schwieterman’s funeral was held on March 4th, and the family asked for any donations to be made to the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
