Golden Globes host Nikki Glaser paid a subtle tribute to Rob Reiner at the end of the ceremony, honouring the director for his impact across Hollywood.

At the end of the show on January 11th, Glaser delivered her final words to the camera while wearing a Spinal Tap baseball cap while saying: “Well, that was our show. This one went to 11,” referencing the iconic line from Reiner’s 1984 mockumentary.

The renowned filmmaker was murdered alongside his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, at their home in Los Angeles on December 14th last year. Their 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, has been charged in connection with their deaths.

As some of the biggest industry stars came together to celebrate the Golden Globes, the ceremony did not feature an ‘in memoriam’ segment, as is often customary during these types of awards shows.

Glaser’s words of acknowledgement were the only subtle nod towards Reiner throughout the night, where One Battle After Another and Hamnet dominated the proceedings.

It comes after the Critics’ Choice Awards, which took place on January 4th, where host Chelsea Handler paid a much more extensive tribute to Reiner by saying: “Everyone in this room knows that the nicest guy in Hollywood was Rob Reiner.”

She added: “Anyone who ever spent time with Rob Reiner knows that the minute you met him, he felt like an old friend when you were in a conversation with him.”

In terms of the Golden Globes, the big winners of the night included Timothée Chalamet, who took home the prize for ‘Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy’ for his role in Marty Supreme.

In addition to this, Jessie Buckley also won the award for ‘Best Female Actor – Drama’ for her role in Hamnet, where she played the wife of William Shakespeare.
