Glastonbury has begun confirming the stage splits for some of the confirmed acts attending. They have started with the acoustic stage, as they confirm the blues, folk, and country acts who will be performing stripped-back sets throughout the weekend.
The line-up is very diverse, highlighting Glastonbury’s approach this year to having one of its most varied lineups ever. Artists such as Nick Lowe, The Bootleg Beatles, and Billie Marten will all perform on the acoustic stage.
“We begin our Glastonbury 2025 stage and area line-up announcements with the brilliant Acoustic Stage,” wrote the festival in a recent post on social media, “The Festival’s home of blues, folk, contemporary and country music.”
Some of the highlights on the line-up include Ani DiFranco, The Searchers, Dhani Harrison, Hothouse Flowers, The Bluebells, Nick Lowe, and Roy Harper. A number of tribute acts, including Bob Dylan and The Beatles, will perform on the acoustic stage.
Glastonbury revealed its full line-up on March 6th, as they confirmed this year’s headliners would be The 1975, Neil Young and Olivia Rodrigo. Other acts that will be taken to the field include the likes of Charli XCX, Loyle Carner, and The Prodigy.
Young was one of the first headliners confirmed for the festival. He initially ruled out playing, saying that the BBC’s “corporate control” over the festival puts him off ever wanting to headline. He later reversed his decision, explaining that there had been some kind of mix-up.
“Due to an error in the information received, I had decided not to play Glastonbury festival, which I always have loved,” he said, “Happily, the festival is now back on our itinerary and we look forward to playing! Hope to see you there!”
Rod Stewart has been confirmed as the performer playing this year’s legend slot. “It’s going to cost me a fortune to do it,” he admitted, “$300,000. I’ve got to bring all my band back from America, of course Glastonbury don’t pay for that. But I don’t care if it cost me $1 million, I would have done it. This is a great honour. It really is the greatest honour.”
Glastonbury will start on June 25th.
