Glastonbury Festival have unveiled details of a new partnership with Vodafone, which will allow festival goers to find their friends thanks to an innovative map feature.

The map allows users to scroll across Glastonbury’s extensive grounds in order to drop pins on various locations, whether this be the car park, tents, or meeting points where they’ve arranged to meet friends after seeing different acts.

Also, the map feature enables those attending to Glastonbury to make a note of sights they would like to visit during the course of the weekend, whether this be a specific food stall or a stage.

Additionally, there is a social aspect to the app, too. Fans can create their own line-ups, which they can share with friends, and compare who they plan to watch at the festival.

The app allows those attending Glastonbury to link their Spotify account, which will then offer recommendations based on their listening habits. It will also inform users of their most-listened to artists who are appearing at the festival.

In a statement, Rob Winterschladen, consumer director at Vodafone UK, said of the partnership: “Glastonbury Festival is one of the premier events of the summer, and we want to make sure we deliver an app that helps visitors get the most out of the festival, along with connectivity to match.”

He claims the app features a “number of never-before-seen features” which Winterschladen believes “will massively benefit fans and make their Glastonbury experience even more seamless.”

Furthermore, Glastonbury Festival organiser Emily Eavis said she hopes the app “will enhance everyone’s experience of the festival, whether they’re watching at home or joining us at the farm.”

Meanwhile, Eavis recently revealed Kate Bush as her ultimate headliner for Glastonbury. During a new appearance on the BBC Sounds podcast, Sidetracked with Annie and Nick, Eavis told hosts Annie Macmanus and Nick Grimshaw when asked the impossible question, “Do you know who I would like to get who haven’t had… Is Kate Bush. I’d love to have her.”

When asked about whether they’ve reached out to Bush’s team, Eavis replied: “I’ve put it out there that I’d love to have her. I hope one day.”

Glastonbury Festival is set to run from June 28th until June 30th and Far Out will be on the ground at Worthy Farm to provide coverage directly from the event. This year’s event will be headlined by Dua Lipa, Coldplay and SZA.
