Following the release of her latest album, Eusexua, in January, FKA Twigs has been forced to postpone the American leg of the tour celebrating the record due to visa issues shortly before it was set to get underway.
The Eusexua tour began in Europe two weeks ago at FKA Twigs launched her new theatrical stage show in Prague before touching down in Berlin, Paris, and Brussels, and recently playing shows in both Manchester and London. She was booked to play in Chicago tonight, March 26th, at Salt Shed. However, the artist has had to cancel these performances at the last minute.
“Today I was informed that production did not fill out the correct paperwork in a timely manner for us to have our visas to come to the USA and perform,” she explained in a TikTok video posted on March 25th, sharing the news that she cannot fly to America to fulfil these shows. She added, “By no choice of my own I will have to pull out of my New York, Chicago, and Toronto shows.”
While Canada’s visa situation is different, she explained why the Toronto show has also been cancelled: “For those of you who are wondering why I have to pull out of Toronto because it’s not part of the United States, it’s because of routing and just the complex beast that touring is.”
She added that so far, the tour has felt “absolutely incredible” as she brings her new music to the stage for the first time. She said that she feels “so grateful to be just a part of such an amazing creative process” even if it has been “challenging with production and just, the more practical sides of putting this tour together” behind the scenes.
Now having to cancel these next shows, FKA Twigs shared her sadness. “I don’t take this lightly. I’m completely devastated, to be honest with you. Completely heartbroken. All I want to do is be there with you and bring Eusexua to you,” she said, assuring fans that the dates will be rescheduled soon.
