Dave Grohl has revealed that a new album from the Foo Fighters has now been completed.

The frontman unveiled the news during the opening night of their current Australian tour over the weekend, where they were performing at the UTAS Stadium in Launceston, Tasmania, on January 24th.

Grohl told the crowd, “We’ll be back here sooner than you think. I know when we’re coming back! It is before my next birthday, just so you know.”

He added, “And we might have a whole new record of fucking songs that we just finished the other day. I dunno!”

Although Foo Fighters have not released a full studio record since 2023 with But Here We Are, they have been making a gradual return to making new music. They released two new singles, ‘Today’s Song’ and ‘Asking for a Friend’, last year, and put out the live album Are Playing Where??? Vol I exclusively via Bandcamp in October.

The band are currently taking their Take Cover tour all over the world, with the Australian stint being the latest leg to kick off. They are set to travel across the US and Europe over the coming months, before making a flying stop to the UK in June for two nights at Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium.

On top of this, they will also perform a number of festival headline appearances, including Mad Cool in Madrid, Nos Alive in Lisbon, and Welcome To Rockville in Daytona Beach, Florida.

However, most recently prior to heading Down Under, Foo Fighters also marked Grohl’s recent birthday on January 14th by playing a special benefit show at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, held to raise money for local homelessness charities.

As part of his celebrations, Grohl urged fans attending the show to also donate their time or goods to the charities Hope the Mission and The LA Mission, saying, “The best gift is to give”.
