Brian Johnson and Mark Knopfler have announced the guests who will be joining them for the new series of their Sky Arts programme, Johnson and Knopfler’s Music Legends.
The season will see the AC/DC singer and Dire Straits founder pair up to share their incredible stories while musical guests also draw from. Joining them on the upcoming jaunt will be acclaimed artists including Tom Jones, Sam Fender, Nile Rogers and Carlos Santana.
Jones will be the duo’s first guest of the series, joining them in song and conversation on April 25th. In doing so, he will reflect on some of his earliest musical influences and memories, telling stories throughout his career and discussing his close friendship with Elvis Presley.
Fender will also be able to provide slightly more modern insight as his recent rise to fame saw him perform with Johnson on stage at St James Park in Newcastle last year. He will take to the show to share some of his musical stories and teach them how to play ‘Seventeen Going Under’.
The final guest is Emmylou Harris, who will be interviewed in Nashville so that she can share highlights throughout her career and talk about her relationship with Gram Parsons. Vince Gill will also join them for an exclusive jam session.
“When two rock and roll legends open up their address books, it turns out they are full of other legends, and we are thrilled to be bringing this revealing and utterly charming series to the small screen,” said Phil Edgar Jones, the director of Sky Arts.
The message also stated “an hour in their company with the likes of Tom Jones, Carlos Santana, Cyndi Lauper, Sam Fender and Emmylou Harris is a special treat.”
The first episode of the series will be released on April 25th and the rest of the programmes are set to be shared on a weekly basis.
