Scottish rock band Biffy Clyro have announced a new album, Futique, ahead of their Glastonbury set on the Pyramid Stage on June 27th.

Futique will be their tenth studio album, a follow-up to 2021’s The Myth of the Happily Ever After, which featured the fan favourite, ‘A Hunger in Your Haunt’. The band returned on June 11th with the single ‘A Little Love’, which premiered as Radio 1’s Hottest Record. It opens with staccato synth notes propelling a warm guitar riff into Simon Neil’s familiar sing-song voice.

Lead vocalist and guitarist Neil spoke of the album’s name, Futique, explaining that it represents “an exploration of ideas, objects or relationships that exist across time – we are never aware when we do anything for the last time and there’s a beauty and sadness within that. What will be your ‘Futique’?”

The project will tackle the intricacies of memory shape-shifting during the digital era. Treasured memories were once kept exclusively in photo albums; now, we can access infinite images of any era of our lives in a split second on our phones. Neil considered this change, which led him blindly into a heavy bout of nostalgia for his youth.

The band followed up the release of the album’s first single with a dramatic music video. It follows the three members performing trust exercises with each other, propping one another up in free-fall. They end in hearty embraces, smiling and singing with one another. “With a little love, we can defeat them all,” Neil sings triumphantly.

The band is also offering an exclusive for eager fans. A limited first-pressing LP will be available for only 48 hours. It will be pressed on recycled black vinyl and housed in a hand-stamped, hand-numbered white disco bag. It will be officially released on September 26th.

The band will hit the Glastonbury Pyramid Stage at 8:15pm on Friday. After this, they will play headline sets at Eden Sessions and TRNSMT.
