Netflix has announced that production for The Gentlemen season two has started, and a handful of impressive newcomers have joined the cast.
Frontrunners Theo James, Kaya Scodelario, Daniel Ings, and Ray Winstone will return alongside Benjamin Clementine of Dune, Hugh Bonneville of The Agency, Benedetta Porcaroli of Amanda and Michele Morrone of thriller comedy Another Simple Favour.
Other newcomers include Sergio Castellito of the award-winning 2024 film Conclave, Amra Mallassi, who starred alongside Timothee Chalamet in Dune: Part Two, Tyler Conti of Tell Me Everything and British TV show host and radio DJ Maya Jama.
The Love Island presenter made her acting debut in Katherine Ryan’s Netflix series The Duchess, where she played Sandra, a girl-next-door character, for two episodes. Details about her new character in the show’s second season have yet to be disclosed.
Commenting on the return for season two, Ritchie said, “This chapter sees a deliberate expansion, both geographically and thematically, as we journey from the English countryside to the Italian lakes.”
He adds, “Eddie and Susie find themselves navigating an increasingly volatile empire as they’re besieged on all fronts by an influx of enigmatic new players. The stakes are heightened, the power dynamics are more precarious, and I’m thrilled to be collaborating once again with this exceptional cast and crew.”
Other returners also include Joely Richardson, Vinnie Jones, Jasmine Blackborrow, Michael Vu, Harry Goodwins, Ruby Sear, Pearce Quigley and Giancarlo Esposito.
The series is based on Guy Ritchie’s 2019 movie of the same name. The original movie was a star-studded affair featuring Hugh Grant, Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam and Colin Farrell. In a similar plot, the movie follows the story of an American man embroiled in the complicated sale of a British drug empire.
On May 23rd, Apple TV+ released the newest trailer for Ritchie’s latest action offering, Fountain of Youth, starring John Krasinski and Natalie Portman. The film follows two estranged siblings who partner on a global heist to find the mythological Fountain of Youth.
