As the US election looms closer on November 5th, Hollywood veteran Harrison Ford has weighed in with an endorsement for Democrat candidate Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz.

Over the weekend, Ford shared a video explaining why he is standing by Harris in the upcoming election and why “people I’ve never met” should follow suit.

“I’m Harrison Ford, doing something I never thought I’d do: telling people I’ve never met who I’m voting for and why I think they might do the same,” he said in a special video for Rolling Stone.

Ford then admitted he felt Harris and her team weren’t “perfect” and that he doesn’t “agree with every one of their policies,” but “they’re people, just like you and me.”

Expanding on his reasons for voting for Harris, he said that she and her team are people who “believe in the rule of law” and that the country needs a president “who works for all of us again.”

“These two people believe in the rule of law. They believe in science. They believe that when you govern, you do so for all Americans,” he said, adding, “They believe that we are in this together. These are ideas I believe in. These are people I can get behind.”

The actor also criticised her counterpart, Donald Trump, saying people might be “frustrated about a lot of things” but standing behind Trump means supporting someone who “spent four years turning us against each other while embracing dictators and tyrants around the world.” He continued, “We don’t need to ‘make America great again.’ Come on, we are great. What we need is to work together again. What we need is a president who works for all of us again.”

In a second video, Ford called attention to the concerning nature of some of Trump’s former team and staff speaking out against him while reiterating some of the positives about voting for Harris, including how she will “protect your right to disagree with her” as opposed to Trump demanding “unquestioning loyalty” for a broader “revenge” plot.

Who else has endorsed Kamala Harris?

Ford joins a growing list of high-profile figures endorsing Harris and her team, each of which have shared unique and impassioned reasons for standing beside her over her Republican rival.

Bruce Springsteen, for instance, recently revealed he plans to headline Harris rallies in swing states to urge others to follow the movement. Others, including Stevie Nicks, Eminem, Beyoncé, Willie Nelson, Neil Young, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, and more have also endorsed the figure of late.

In a statement on his website, Young wrote: “Kamala Harris will take on the billionaire class and make them pay their fair share of taxes. She will not owe them any favours. She is a kind, considerate American. Cast your vote for a beautiful future for your family. Kamala Harris for President.”

Actor Chloë Grace Moretz also recently supported Harris by sharing a picture of an “I voted early” sticker on Instagram with the caption: “I voted early and I voted for Kamala Harris. There is so much on the line this election. I believe the government has no right over my body as a woman and that the decisions over my body should come ONLY from myself and my doctor.”
