Austin Butler and Timothée Chalamet share their favourite bands

In a new interview, Hollywood pin-ups Austin Butler and Timothée Chalamet have discussed their tastes in music, revealing love for British icons The Beatles and Radiohead.

Butler and Chalamet are currently promoting their appearances in the acclaimed Dune: Part 2. While straying from the topic of Denis Villeneuve’s blockbusting reboot of David Lynch’s sci-fi classic, the pair of actors delved into their listening habits.

While Butler revealed a taste for Radiohead’s 2007 indie masterpiece In Rainbows, Chalamet kept things old-school by picking out The Beatles’ classic compilation, the ‘Blue’ album, for special consideration.

“It’s an old faithful that I have listened to more than any other album. But ‘In Rainbows’ by Radiohead. I just recently have just been playing that over and over. And ‘Chet Baker Sings’,” Butler told the NME.

“I think ‘In Rainbows’ is a perfect album, and almost for any mood. It makes me feel so much, and I just love it. Chet Baker, same thing. It’s just the sound of his voice, and it’s another one that’s from beginning to end it’s just perfect. I just love it,” he added. 

“I think it’s an official release, but I guess it was a re-release of The Beatles 1967 to 1970 and it’s like a 14-track or 28-track release. My mom listened to a lot of Beatles growing up but maybe some more of the mainstream classics.”

“Obviously, a re-release is going to have a lot of hits, but I’m like at the beginning of, honestly, through the world of Bob [Dylan], who I think was very admiring of The Beatles, they were the contemporaries in some way. And just like god, what a time.”

Dune: Part 2 arrived in cinemas globally on March 1st and has been met with rave reviews over the past couple of weeks. In a 4.5-star review, Far Out said of the movie: “I’d found Dune: Part One to be a mere science fiction cliché exercise, perhaps admittedly owing to Herbert’s singular original influence on the genre, but by the time Part Two’s nearly-three-hour runtime had drawn to a close – even featuring a seemingly rushed ending – I’d undoubtedly become a new convert to Paul’s quest, utterly mesmerised by its prophetic vision and some of the greatest science fiction moments in contemporary cinema.”
