Tennis champion, radio presenter and all-round top bloke Dylan Alcott has today announced his very own music festival, Ability Fest, in collaboration with Untitled Group and triple j.
Taking place on April 7th at the Coburg Velodrome in Victoria, Ability Fest’s aim is to bring people togetherÂ regardless age, gender, disability or race for a day top notch tunes from the likes Â will see the likes Flight Facilities, Client Liaison, Ninajirachi, Tkay Maidza and Willaris. K among MANY others.
100% the ticket sales for Ability Fest will be heading to the Dylan Alcott Foundation (DAF), a charitable organisation with the core purpose helping marginalised young Australians with disabilities gain self-esteem, fulfil their potential and achieve their dreams. The aim for their inaugural event is $300,000, an easily achievable amount granted how big this lineup is!
Speaking on the event, Alcott explains it “exists to break down the stigma surrounding disabilities and remove the barriers those living with a disability face on a daily basis.
I really struggled with my disability when I was younger and music festivals were one the first places I truly felt accepted, which is why we felt a festival was the perfect way to launch DAF. We want individuals with disabilities and those from the able-bodied community to enjoy the experience together as a community.â
